Word of The Day: Stillness

stillness-of-water-terry-cosgraveWord of The Day:  Stillness

Definition – silence; quiet; the absence of motion

This word came to me today while lying in bed.  I am being treated for Lyme Disease and the little critters dying off is hard on the body.  It leaves me exhausted and lethargic and often times in pain.  It is hard to be self-employed and be sick.  There are no paid days off.  So, when I can’t work, I tend to get caught up in anxiety about not being able to work.

I knew I had to find stillness in my mind if I were going to shift out of fear so I began to breathe.  The deeper I breathed the more quiet I became.  A great stillness came over me and I fell back asleep.  I could’t have gotten there without the breath.  When I awoke the fear had dissipated.

f6q73qsabtpdzfxbm4eaOr How I Met My Money Guide.

I know this is going to sound weird but you should be used to that from me by now.  😉

The first time I explored meeting my money guide through hypnosis I didn’t see much.  An ethereal being was reaching out to me and I couldn’t grasp her hand.  That first experience showed me how the Universe is trying to assist me but I was still unable to receive it.

During that session I worked through some blocks and when I tried the hypnosis again Glenda the good witch from The Wizard of Oz showed up!  Crazy fun right?

I’ve been working with her for about two weeks now and I can see how she is helping me.  Her guidance seems to be in the form of inspiration.  I have many new ideas on how to expand my business.  I look forward to following through on these new ideas and pull them into form.

She also helps me with fear.  Ever since the election I can feel all the economic anxiety that is vibrating on the planet.  We simply do not yet know how things will unfold with our newly elected leaders.  She waves her magic wand and reminds me that “There’s no place like home.”  Home is the quiet place at the center of my being.  Home is my heart.  Home is my breath.  There is no fear when I am home.

The Fear Bone

tail_bone_nj_3-672x372In talking with a client this morning during an intuitive reading I was sharing with her how I was feeling her fear all the way down in her fear bone.  What I had meant to say was tail bone. This Freudian slip got me thinking about all the “stuff” that gets trapped in the 1st chakra at the base of the spine.

I like to think of chakras as little computer hard drives that store information.  We can access this information in several ways.  We can meditate on the chakra and ask it to reveal any clues to the fear.  Another way is to observe the thoughts we are thinking.  Negativity, insecurity, thoughts of lack or experiencing lack of support are all signs that the first chakra has fear stored there.  Troubles with your low back, sacrum, legs or feet are physical manifestations of the fear bone being active.

What to do with this information?  There are several ways to diminish the fear stored in the body.  One way is through yoga.  Yoga is an ancient practice that opens up the body to release negative emotions that get trapped there over time.  Journaling is another way to process fear.  Talking about fears with a friend or therapist is another way.  Getting a massage or having a healing session with someone who can “see”  the fear and then help to shift it is another solution.  My all time favorite remedy is to breathe into the fear.  Did you know we can not hold fear in our body and breathe long and deep at the same time?  Give it a try.

Fear is neither good nor bad.  Fear is information.  We decide how we are going to use this information.  We can choose to put up blocks that protect us from experiencing life in all its gory, I mean glory.  Or, we can acknowledge fear and say thank you for sharing but I’m going to do this thing I’m afraid of anyhow.  I know it isn’t as simple as that.  These tools and techniques are a good place to start.

When In Deep Water, Become A Diver

2e84623d91ee63b02be6daafEverything we experience has a beginning, a middle, and and end, and is followed by a new beginning.  Therefore do not draw back from the passage into darkness:  When in deep water, become the diver.

~Ralph Blum, The Book of Runes~

It is easy to retreat from darkness.  I feel It is the fear of the unknown that really frightens us.  I know this from my ability to skedaddle at a moments notice when darkness comes to call.  The real challenge in any situation is to hold still and allow the darkness to unfold around you.  We tend to think that the darkness will consume us.  That is not true.  If we could see the brightness of our own Being we would no longer be afraid of the dark.  We would never be afraid of anything again.

I ask my Guidance how do we recognize our own light?  Be still my child, you are so often running around, consumed by busyness that beingness can not be found.  Beingness, light, love are all within you.  Your fear keeps you from your knowing.  Be still.  Being still does not mean holding yourself tightly so that you can not breathe.  All things come to you on the breath.  All love, all light, everything comes to you when you breathe.

K.I.S.S. – Keep It Simple Soul

tumblr_me207r1Pdn1qmm3xxo1_500I once had a friend tell me that I was addicted to transformation.  That was many years ago yet that statement has never left me.  What he meant by those words is that I am so often moving on to the next issue that needs healed, processing some emotional angst or reading the next self-help book on the market that I am rarely being in the moment and integrating what I’ve already learned.

I have a stack of books on my table that I want to read yet I can’t seem to crack them open.  I am over saturated with tools and techniques that will help me heal my finances, my self-esteem, my diet, etc.  To be honest I can’t seem to absorb on more tool, one more affirmation, one more suggestion on how to change my life.

It is becoming clear to me that what my friend said is still true.  In keeping myself busy with transforming I never accept that I am already whole and complete.  I never get to fully integrate the healing that has already occurred.  I haven’t celebrated who I have become because of all the work I am still doing.

My Guidance has been gently slowing me down and encouraging me to keep things simple.  What does that mean?  Be in the now.  As I was washing my dishes this morning I noticed I was holding my breath.  When I hold my breath I am either thinking about the past or the future.  I am not living in the now.

For me, keeping it simple means to breathe and be in the present moment.  That is more than enough. . .

Gentle Spirit

Sumya
painting by Della McGee

Gentle Spirit your soul calls your name.  Gentleness is your strength.  Sweetness, joy.  Love and Compassion are your hallmarks.  Peace is your breath.  Look deeply into your soul and call forth your deepest longings.  The truth is within you.  Look into your eyes and “see” your authentic being.  Remember this:  no one can tell you who you are.  You are the architect of your life.  Through love and compassion you will be guided.  Fear will block you if you give it power.  Remember, to find your way . . . breathe.

A Soul Colors Portrait is a personal maṇḍala for your use as a tool for transformation  When we meditate on our Soul or High Self we become more aligned with our Divine Purpose  Each portrait is painted in acrylic and measures 8″ x 8″.  Della tunes into your soul and paints from that space.  She then receives a written message from Guidance about the meaning of the painting.  Each painting is unique and is used here with the clients permission.   Click here to find out how to get your own Soul Colors Portrait.

A Conversation with Soul: The Nature of Existence

og3123201505152106318Soul:  Ask me a question?

Self:  I’m afraid you’ll answer.

Soul:  I always have your back.

Self:  Why is there so much fear in the world?

Soul:  Because you don’t understand the nature of existence.

Self:  Which is?

Soul:  Love.

Self:  How do I love?

Soul:  Be still a moment and listen to your breath.  What do you hear?

Self:  My heartbeat.

Soul:  Now listen to your breath and your heartbeat.  Take a few moments to do this.  What do you feel?

Self:  Relaxed.

Soul:  That is love.

Self:  Huh?  How can relaxation be love?

Soul:  Because fear is tension and the opposite of tension is relaxation which is love.

Self:  That sounds too simple.

Soul:  You have just discovered the root of fear. . . Your thoughts.  So to bring more love into your life relax a little more, breathe and listen to the beat of your heart.  Yes, it is that simple.
