Word of The Day:  Creativity

Definition – aligning with the Divine to create a work of art, project or little human.

While tuning into today’s word I was given a vision of the big bang that created all of the Universe.  Or you could say God had a really great orgasm!

The key words here are Aligning with the Divine.  Have you ever looked at a piece of art that took your breath away?  Not only did the artist align themselves with the Divine while creating the art but you were automatically brought into alignment with the Divine when you appreciated the creation.

You may say that you find some art ugly rather than transcendent.  That doesn’t change the fact that the artist tapped into something beyond them.  Just because their art doesn’t touch you doesn’t mean it doesn’t another.  There are many different religions that are available to the world today and you may only resonate with one.  The same goes with a style of art or artist.  I believe art and the expression of creativity is another spiritual path that can lead us back home to the Divine.

Maybe you have forgotten your connection to Source and are looking for a way back?  I invite you to get out a box of crayons and color outside the lines.  There are so many different ways to express your creativity.  You may take great photos with your phone, you can garden, cook, write, dance, and even act.  Find out what expression best suits you and do it.

All of life is a creative expression even if you don’t like what you are seeing.  All acts of creativity are a reflection of your relationship with God.  Think about that for a moment.  All acts of creativity are a reflection of your relationship with God.  What are you experiencing in your life right now?  Are you aligning with the Divine to co-create your life?  Or, are you willfully forcing your way through existence?  Food for thought. . .

Taking Flight

taking-flight
Pastel by Della McGee

Done
with the
wasting away. . .

waiting for you

Moving forward

picking up the pieces
of my
shattered
heart

Pulling the ties
that bind us
to one another
tight

til they
snap!

No longer
tethered
to the
unknown of
you

I take flight

The Monster

Do not be alarmed by the darkness in this poem.  I had recently had a health scare which turned out to be minor.  I had spent several weeks on Dr. Google (thank you Katelyn for this little moniker!) trying to diagnose what was wrong with me.  I honestly was too afraid to get it checked out.  It felt different this time.  I was sure it was something fatal.  I tell you I am not afraid of death but I am afraid of dying.  I’m not sure if this fatalistic thinking is because so many of my friends are sick now and struggling with their own health problems.  And, thanks to Facebook we are able to connect with those friends in a way we haven’t been able to in the past.  What ever the reason this fear that took me by the throat literally sucked all my creative juice away.  This poem is the resurrection of that creativity which was pushed aside by fear.

The Monster

despair. . .
captured me

dropped me
on a barren
mountain

isolated
and
alone

fear. . .
the blood that seeps
from my wounds

loneliness. . .
pecks at my flesh

now
only bones remain

I am . . .
released

I see . . .
the
monster

was
only
always

in
my
mind

Soul Colors Portrait: River of Compassion

painting by Della McGee
painting by Della McGee

Deep within you runs a river of compassion.  On each side of your river are experiences yet to unfold.  One sides holds challenges that are yet to be reveal themselves.  The other holds the promise of peace and prosperity.  Notice that even the challenges contain the light.  It is through compassion that you can navigate the waters of challenge with ease.  Never forget that life is meant to be experienced through duality – both light and dark reside on each bank of your river.  Compassion is the key to balance both sides of your experience.

Queen Of The Fairies

When you look at yourself in the mirror what do you see?  Do you see your majesty?  Do you see your grace?  Do you see your power?  Do you see a leader?  These are all qualities you have dwelling within you.  You can see the image in your portrait has her wings spread wide open.  She does this to embrace all of life.  You may notice that even though she is feminine she also has masculine qualities as well.  You will need this balance of masculine (active) and feminine (receptive) to fully step into your power.  Do not be afraid to be assertive with your dreams.  The queen’s face has an expression that could be misconstrued as aggression.  Sometime we need to “put on our game face” to push ourselves to our destiny.  If only to convince ourselves that we have the strength to carry on.

Soul Portrait: Creative Spirit

Shannon A. McGeeI painted this portrait for my niece for her high school graduation present.  The painting came easy yet I was unable to complete a reading for her.  I came to understand that she was to find meaning within the portrait for herself.  I do know it is about her creative journey.  She is an incredible artist and singer.  I can not wait to watch her journey unfold . . .
