What Your Dreams May Be Telling You

dream-interpretation-certificateDreams can be a helpful tool to help us find insights into the hidden parts of ourselves. Not every dream has an important message. Some dreams are garbage dreams. Our unconscious mind may simply be processing and releasing the events of the day.  Some dreams are prophetic. These dreams feel different than ordinary dreams. They tell us about something that is happening on the astral plane, which may manifest on the physical plane soon. Some dreams are visitations from loved ones who have crossed over. These ones are reminders that even though a loved one has departed, they are still with us.  Whatever kind of dream you may be having, they can be a useful means for understanding ourselves more completely.
Recently I had a dream I was working for a company, and as a gift for my service, they bought me a pink pair of hiking boots. For some reason, people were moving out, and they accidentally picked up my boots and put them into their moving truck. I was frantic to get them back.   When I asked to get the boots back they were buried so deeply in the moving truck they couldn’t get to them. Eventually, I did get the boots back, but someone had planted flowers in them. I remember feeling upset by this, and then I woke up.
308aa7f6dc3709ea785cd526abdd1fb4This dream stood out because the hiking boots were pink, and they played such a significant role in the dream. Pink to me stands for unconditional love and self-acceptance. We wear boots on our feet, and they help us walk comfortably on the Earth. You could say that in this dream, the boots symbolize my connection to the Earth and my relationship to myself. For awhile in the dream, I lost the boots. Was the dream telling me that I have lost my connection to the Earth and therefore myself? Later in the dream, the boots are returned to me, but there are flowers planted in them. I clearly didn’t understand that the flowers were another gift. Flowers can represent many things. For example, it could mean new growth. Or, they could be telling me to stop and smell the roses. My interpretation of the flowers planted in the boots is this. I am slowly beginning to love and accept myself more every day (being gifted the pink boots). I’m just not always able to appreciate myself as much as I could (not understanding the gift of the flower). So the dream is telling me I am making progress in the self-love department, but I don’t always see it.

Definition – a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep; to imagine as possible by freeing your imagination.

“I have a dream. . .” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Yesterday, we talked about listening and how what you put your attention to grows.  Are you putting your attention on your dreams?  Are you listening to your dreams of the night to help guide you to accomplishing your dreams (desires) of the day?

Here are some things you can do to help you with your dreams:

  • create a vision board of your dreams (what you want to manifest)
  • meditate – meditation helps clear the mind for dreaming
  • write down your night dreams to see clues to how Divine Guidance is trying to help you
  • Get The Dream Book by Betty Bethards to help you interpret your dream symbols

I’ve Got This

af41c724f51bb97447794e045a07a73fLast night I dreamed I was riding on a bus with my boyfriend Hugh Jackman.  I felt the need to go for a run so I jumped off the bus and careened down this hill onto a path that led into the woods.  Once on the path it went from daylight to darkness.  These woods were very creepy looking.   I had been here many times before and I remember how frightened I had been each time I arrived at this place.

This time it was different.  I wasn’t afraid.  I leaned down to pick up a small stuffed animal that was laying on the ground and my surroundings immediately became illuminated.  I could see that the forest was still very scary looking but I had no fear.  I knew I had been here before and that I always made it through to the daylight again.

On the other side of the forest was a room filled with homeless people.  They were listless and stared off into space.  I offered them rice crispy treats and they perked up and seemed happy.

When I awoke I immediately knew this dream was a message from my subconscious that “I’ve got this”.  I have been here before and I can do this.  “This” being the major move I have just made.  Yesterday I moved from the Twin Cities where I have lived for the past 30 years to Ashland, WI.  In many way’s I’m entering the unknown (dark scary forest).   But I have the light within me to see me through to the other side.

I feel the homeless people represent how many of us seem lost right now.  The work I do offers sustenance (rice crispy treat) and reminds us of the sweetness of life.

I would love to hear any insights you may have to this dream.  Please feel free to share your interpretation with me here.
