RuneSpeak – Uruz

phoenix 2As I consult the runes for wisdom this day, I hear Uruz inviting me to descend into darkness. This is not the dark night of the soul as in times past. I am called into the Womb of the Divine Mother. In this space, I am restored before the moment of rebirth.

I can rest here for a while as I wait on the will of heaven.

How Self-Pleasure Creates Intimacy

birth-of-aphrodite1In a recent visit to my massage therapist she commented on how I was disconnected from my body.  Lately, I have been in the throes of change both internally (peri-menopause) and externally.  All these changes had caused a disconnection from my body and I had taken up residence in my head.  She suggested self-pleasuring to get me back in touch with myself  Yes, it’s exactly what you think.  Masturbation.

Before peri-menopause you would never have had to suggest masturbation to me.  I had a very high sex drive.  At one point in my life I was concerned with how distracted I was by my desire for sexual release.  Over the past couple years as my hormones have changed so has my sex drive.  What once was a daily ritual became once a week and then too much of a bother at all.

I took up my therapists advice and prescribed myself a daily orgasm.  What started out as a chore became a sensual pleasure.  I began to feel differently in my body.  I am feeling sexy and secure in my skin.  For those of you who know me this is not my norm.  I decided to take this self-pleasure to another level.

Once I connected to the feeling of sensuality and pleasure in my body I incorporated this energy into how I ate and walked and the clothes that I choose to wear.  I decided that I needed to connect more deeply with the Divine Feminine and began using divination tools that directly access the Divine Goddess energies.  Each Goddess from our mythologies carries her own unique characteristics.  She is receptive, creative and nurturing.  She embodies pleasure.  I am using these tools to connect more deeply with the aspects of Her.

Moving my body has become a pleasure as well.  Walking, dancing and yoga have become something more than exercise.  I am delighting in the pure magnificence of my human form.  One morning I slathered myself with coconut oil and then stood under a hot shower and massaged all the tight spots and said thank you for my health and well-being.

Cooking a meal has taken on a whole new meaning.  When I create something in the kitchen I have imagined myself mixing up a sacred potion that I then get to consume with pleasure.

Intimacy means a close, familiar, and usually affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person or group.  Connecting with pleasure has made me feel more whole and more present in my life.  That is what intimacy is – being fully present for another.  In this case the other is me.
.
I encourage you to invite more pleasure into your life.  It does not have to look like my way.  It can be as simple as playing with your children on the floor, eating a decadent piece of chocolate or dressing up for a night on the town or a night in the bedroom with your lover.  How ever you express and experience pleasure will connect you with yourself more intimately.  Enjoy!

A Beautiful Woman

il_340x270.589278134_sbufOften, while giving an intuitive reading for someone a message will come through that is meant for more than just the client.  The message that came through this day was meant for every woman on the planet.  The Goddess came through and this is what she said:

Every time you say something negative about another woman you are saying that same thing about yourself.  Every time you say something negative about another woman it affects every woman on the planet.  Every negative thought about your self affects every woman every where.

In today’s society, we are programmed to believe that we are not good enough.  Our standard of beauty is skewed by the corporations who want our money.  Unfortunately, marketing campaigns set up this unrealistic standard and then hones in on that which makes us less than the ideal.  A very clever ruse to keep us purchasing products and enslaved in negativity.

In recent months I have seen a change.  Yet, there is a long way to go.  Aerie (lingerie company) is using real women’s bodies in their Instagram campaign.  More and more celebrities are eschewing being photo shopped.  A revolution is beginning and women are at the forefront.  It is only we who can change the mindset of the masses about what beauty is.  It begins by changing our own minds first.  Loving ourselves is a process, an unfolding, and a knowing that we are more than what others think of us.

When you look in the mirror what do you say to yourself?  Can you begin to see what is beautiful about you instead of what you think of as flawed?  This has been my process of discovery too.  I, like so many women, have had to de-program myself and I am not yet completely free.  I use that word very intentionally.  The word program means:  to cause to absorb or incorporate so as to produce a specific response or reaction.

We have bought into the program hook, line and sinker.  Only we can pull ourselves out of the depths of self-loathing that is our common thinking.  How do we do this?  By practicing self-love.  Easier said than done, I know.  That is why I use the word practice.  This is not something you do once or twice and you magically love and accept yourself.  This is a daily commitment to you.

This change can be hard as we are barraged by negative messages on an ongoing basis.  We hear these messages from our movies, our magazines, our men and even other women.  We need to stand strong if we are going to change our world.  We need to start recognizing our original and unique beauty.  Only we can define that for ourselves.  And, once we do, we need to show it to the world with pride in our sense of self.  We teach people how to define us.  From this moment forth write a new definition of who you are and fall in love with your beautiful self.

Dark Moon Lady

In honor of the new moon . . .

images-1

You found me, Dark Moon Lady

As I lay huddled in a heap of pain and sorrow, my cries echoing into the vastness of the Divine

You found me

I reached for the Light but that was only an illusion

I ran and ran and ran from your Darkness, my Darkness

but you found me

“Stop running!” you cried

“Breathe!”

I breathed and was still and in that stillness

I saw the Darkness for what is was

the path to the Light

I found me, Dark Moon Lady

In your embrace
